What is ROC & PRC ?

Officially , Taiwan is known as the Republic of China(ROC).It is an island situated in the southern coast of China. It has been governed independently from mainland China since 1949.
The main land of China is known as The people Republic of China(PRC). The PRC views Taiwan as a province.

History of Taiwan:


Ethnic Han Chinese Settkers, primarily merchants, began to arrive in Taiwan in 17th century. The island now inhabited by Han Chinese majority, many of whom identify as distinctly Taiwanese. The indienous people account for only around 2% of the population.

Taiwan was annexed by the Qing dynasty in the late 1600s. It was later ceded to Japan in 1895 by imperial China in accordance with a treaty of Sino - Japan War. Japan governed Taiwan as a colony untill 1945. After 2nd world war in 1945 ,Japan lost to the govornment of China (KMT) and China again claim Taiwan.

China's nationalist government (KMT) was defeated  in a civil war by the communists in 1949.And the KMT government had been exiled to Taiwan. KTM,insisted his government continued to represent all China people on both the island and the mainland.

But in 1971 The ROC lost its seat representing China at United Nation in 1971 to Beijing. Since 1971 , the PRC replaced  the Republic of China.

'ONE CHINA' Principle:


Beijing and Taipei sharply disagree on the island's status. The PRC asserts that there is only 'One China' and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of it. Beijing says Taiwan is bonded by an understanding reached in 1992.

Due to this conflict and issues Taiwan purely support India .

Taiwan's reaction on India-China clash :


On 17th june,2020  Taiwan's reputed news paper Taiwan News publish
 " Photo of the Day:India's Rama takes on China's dragon "







And on 20/6/20 they publish another artical as 
PLA commanding officer of China killed in clash with India"
